Maybe it DID work...

Remember my post of Monday? ("Oi, Editors!   Buy more of my stories!")

email this morning from Cat Rambo at Fantasy Magazine; hold notice on "In This City" as she wants Sean to take a look at it.

Fingers crossed in a very crossy way with much crossyness for this one.   One, I like the story (contains some of my most beautiful... language... evarr...), and two, it's a very very good market to be in.

Ooo. Best of luck

Wow. Fingers mightily crossed.
yep, everything crossed here for you - having had a sneak preview i like this story a lot :)
Good luck there!

Is this a series story?

does Fantasy still have a 5k cut-off?

best,
Howard
6k is the limit, I think. This is a 2k piece, not a series, and not what most people would consider my "normal" work - much heavier on language and mood, much less on plot.

It has received the best single compliment any critiquer has yet given to my fiction - that it was reminiscent of Italo Calvino. Given that I was pretty much going for an Italo Calvino (specifically, Invisible Cities) vibe, I glowed when I read that.

But it's what editors think that really counts...
Hey, how very cool, congratulations! I've got my fingers crossed for you, too *g*
Very cool! Good luck!
Good luck!!
ooh, you got past the slush! good luck.
Wow. Great news indeed. Have to try that method!

Congratulations!
I liked that story. Good luck. Maybe a little preparatory wOOt. Just getting warmed up. :)
Ohhh, don't jinx me with premature w00tage!
Hmmm, I think I just saw on a certain blog (OCB)that I am certainly not a jinx. You've got a nice email awaiting you. :)
So I do. :)

I rescind my objection! But forgive me - OCB? Not familiar with this...
Ah.

My google-fu eventually tracked it down. I don't know, these people with incomprehensible lj ids so you don't know who they really are... :)
Nice google fuing! :)
Good luck! :-)
Excellent. Perhaps I should try this after all...
